FAQ
Do my staff need special hardware?
No — Kogu runs on the phones already in their pockets. The camera is the barcode scanner, hardware-accelerated and tuned for the five 1D formats retail actually uses (EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128), fast even in dim backrooms. 2D and legacy formats can be switched on from the admin panel.
How does Kogu know what needs restocking?
Kogu listens to your Shopify orders in real time — and only queues items that are actually in one of your stockrooms. When something sells and it lives in the back, it lands on the restock list before the customer has left the register. Sell something that isn't in any stockroom and it stays off the list entirely, so nobody burns ten minutes searching for backstock that doesn't exist. Customer details are stripped before anything is stored: restock alerts, zero customer PII.
How does it handle sized apparel?
Sizes are first-class. Scan any size and Kogu shows the whole run with live stock per variant. Scanning one size into a stockroom offers to add its siblings in one tap — and each size can live in a different stockroom. On count lists, size runs merge into one card so counting a table of tees stays sane.
What happens when two people scan at once?
Everything is live-synced. When one person clears a restock item, it disappears from everyone's list instantly. During counts, the first saved tally claims the whole product for that counter — it vanishes from everyone else's list across the floor and every stockroom, and anything left unfinished simply re-queues on a later day.
How do I know the counts are actually right?
Three layers. Blind QA spot-checks quietly re-count items someone else counted — the checker can't tell, and results build a per-person accuracy score.
